Interview with our Artistic Director Scott Worsfold

9th September 2022
A short interview with our Artistic director Scott Worsfold about how theatre can inspire the next generation into theatre and why pantomime today is still as important as ever.

Our Artistic director has been working as an actor and director since he graduated from Mountview theatre school in 1994. Since then, he has worked in many sectors that all use theatre, including TIE, (theatre in education), corporate training and of course is experience in performing and directing pantomime.

Theatre As part of the Young Creatives programme, which sees 11-25 year olds from Rotherham and beyond accessing a wide range of exciting opportunities and building networks that will develop their skills, confidence, and aspirations around accessing the creative and cultural industries.

Here is an interview that Scott gave recently for the Young Creatives Network, which is part of the Rotherham Children’s Capital of Culture 2025. It is designed and delivered by children and young people in Rotherham, in partnership with a range of organisations and funders. The whole programme has been made possible thanks to funding from the UK Community Renewal Fund, Arts Council England, South Yorkshire MCA, and ERDF

During the interview Scott explains why Pantomime is such an important art form for young people today, as well as any advice for young people looking to get into the arts that might not always have accessible theatre on their doorstep.
