Our aim is to work with the finest industry professionals and venues, and to create the highest quality pantomime entertainment, to be enjoyed by audiences of all ages. Simples!

OUR COMMITMENT

We strive to work with dedicated and talented artists who have a positive mindset and the desire to produce their very best, time after time. With over 25 years of theatrical experience each, the directors of PANTO EVER AFTER have a strong passion for pantomime and the magic of storytelling. We want the audience to be entertained, and feel the passion we have for performing pantomime. We want it to be fun filled for all the family, so that they come back and see us again next year.

OUR POLICY

All directors of PANTO EVER AFTER are parents of young children themselves, and fully understand the frustration and restrictions of high-ticket prices that some pantomimes demand. We believe that going to see a pantomime should be as affordable as possible, and should not require a family to re-mortgage their home, just to be able to enjoy a live family experience at Christmas. This is why we always ensure we offer the most competitively priced tickets for our productions. Afterall, Christmas can be expensive enough, right?

Fiona Egan

Producer

Bio

Fiona studied English Literature and Theatre Studies at Leeds University, and then went on to study acting in London, at The Whitechapel Academy. From thereon in she never looked back, and has been working as an actress and presenter ever since. Her background is steeped in touring and a lifelong love of Shakespeare. Theatre in education, and workshops in schools, gave a firm grounding for working with young people, which she still does to this day. Fiona is also an experienced presenter and voice over artist, and works extensively in the corporate sector.

Panto Ever After came about, after working for many other companies for over 20 years. Fiona has appeared in numerous pantomimes, as a great many characters, from Fairy to Queen, to Villain and the Giant. Working in great venues such as: The LOWRY, Manchester, The CHARTER THEATRE, Preston, The GEORGIAN THEATRE ROYAL, Richmond, The FORUM THEATRE, Billingham, The PRINCE OF WALES THEATRE, Cannock, The LIBRARY THEATRE, Darwen, The NEPTUNE THEATRE, Liverpool, the TAMESIDE HIPPODROME, and The MUNICIPLE HALL, Colne.

She’s done them all, and enjoyed every minute. “Panto Ever After is all about the story telling. The challenge of working in traverse delivers a new found freedom for the actor, you can move and change position easily, and it creates an exciting intimacy for the audience. On opposite sides the audience see both a different view point, and each other. They are not distant and divorced from the action, they are fully immersed. As an actor you are not separate, the audience are close, which is great fun, and all the reactions are immediate and seen. It’s pantomime at its best!”

Scott Worsfold

Director / Co-Writer

Bio

Scott trained at Mountview theatre school where he studied Acting and Musical theatre. As an actor, Scott performed in London, at amazing theatres like the open air theatre in Regents Park and the London Lyric Hammersmith. Scott moved to Yorkshire over 20 years ago, to work with a national touring company, CragRats. Whilst there he directed a multimillion-pound, two year theatre project, that toured the UK and reached over 1 million young children.
It was during this time that Scott honed his skills in writing and directing for a family audience. Scott was able to draw on his knowledge and expertise in pantomime, having worked on so many shows over years. Added to which, he had played most of the characters, from Buttons, to Villain, to Dame.
Scott has also directed numerous pantomimes at some of the most prestigious theatres in the UK, including the world-famous LEEDS CITY VARIETIES, The GEORGIAN THEATRE ROYAL, Richmond, The FORUM THEATRE, Billingham, The LOWRY, Manchester, The PRINCE OF WALES THEATRE, Cannock, The MUNICIPLE HALL, Colne, The LAWRENCE BATLEY THEATRE, Huddersfield, The LIBRARY THEATRE, Darwen, The MILL THEATRE, Holmfirth, and the KING GEORGES HALL, in BLACKBURN. As a result of his passion for performing and directing in theatre, Panto Ever After was formed.
As well as directing the shows for Panto Ever After, he also directs for other national touring companies. Namely, Heartbreak Productions, where he recently directed their national UK tour of Gangsta Granny by David Walliams.
The reason why Scott enjoys directing pantomime is simple.
“Directing pantomime is a pleasure anyway. Yes, it can be challenging at times, but you are always having fun. Being creative, and producing a show that will put a smile on someone’s face, and hopefully make them laugh, is what it’s all about. Our unique traverse style of pantomime, gives a chance for our audience to experience live theatre in an even more enjoyable way. They are closer to all the characters. They see the whites of an actor’s eyes up close, and actually feel like they are on stage with them, immersed in the action. It is an exhilarating, exciting and adrenaline pumping experience for both the audience and the actors. Which is why it can feel totally liberating for the actor, but also incredibly intimate for the audience. Everyone leaves feeling like they have just been involved in something very special. Which for a younger member of the audience, who is watching theatre for the first time, is an incredibly memorable experience.”

Celia Perkins

Set & Costume Design

Bio

Celia trained in Theatre Design at Croydon College, then, did a two year stretch at The Slade…School of Fine Art. After moving to the North West to work for the Library Theatre Co, Manchester as Assistant Scenic Artist, Celia began her long association with the Oldham Coliseum Theatre, as Design Assistant/Scenic Artist and then becoming Resident Designer.

Celia works as a freelance set and costume designer, regularly returning to design for the Oldham Coliseum, including their annual pantomime. Other design work includes productions for Mikron Theatre, Contact Theatre, Feelgood Theatre Co at Heaton Park, The Octagon Theatre, Bolton, Hard Graft Theatre Company, Kindred Theatre Company, and dance pieces for Kapow Dance Circus theatre, Choreographer Susie Crow at The Burton Taylor Theatre, Oxford and The Lilian Baylis Studio, Sadler’s Wells.

Celia is proud to be a collaborative artist with Panto Ever After. As a designer, the exciting challenge lies in their unique traverse setting. Traditionally pantomimes are staged on a proscenium arch stage, where the stage is at a distance in front of the audience with a painted cloth at the back. But, with Panto Ever After and their amazing traverse style of theatre, sometimes known as a “catwalk” or “alley” stage, it means that audiences are even closer to the action.

This is really exciting, and creates greater intimacy for both performer and audience. To quote Celia, “Designing a set for this style of production, means every piece of set has to be able to move freely 360 degrees. Props need to be fully created and not just one dimensional, and costumes need to fill the space, so that an audience can feel the breeze of the material as they pass by them in their seats”.

Creating a picture on this type of stage allows Celia to create a magical and versatile space. Every person in the audience will see a slightly different, unique view of the action, depending on where they are sitting.

James Nicholas

Writer

Bio

James Nicholas is a Huddersfield-born actor and writer. After studying English Literature and Theatre Studies at the University of Leeds, and Acting at the Birmingham Theatre School, James spent several years back up north working with CragRats Theatre Company, who were based in Holmfirth. Here he spent several years delivering shows and workshops to young people across the UK, working extensively in primary, secondary and SEN schools. Since then James has written for a variety of media including theatre, film and internet, and is lead writer for award-winning internet resource www.realsafeguardingstories, and has written many plays for schools across the UK. He is creative consultant for national touring company also based in West Yorkshire, Collingwood Learning, where his writing work has taken him as far afield as Vietnam and the Seychelles.

James was a key part of the delivery team for the BBC's Schools Question Time initiative for eight years and is also a guest drama and acting facilitator for the University of Manchester.

Other work includes I’M JACK (“… the humour within this play is incredibly dark, it also had true emotion and left you with a real connection with it’s sole character”- Boy Blue Magazine) and adaptations of two Charles Dickens short stories – THE SIGNALMAN and THE HAUNTED MAN for performance at the Blue Orange Theatre, Birmingham, as well as his very own one-man show that is set in Huddersfield in the 1970s has now also toured theatres all over the UK. Since joining the team at Panto Ever After, James has now been involved in working his skills with the keyboard, and help the company bring classic stories to life for our original unique staging of pantomimes with new versions of CINDERELLA (“The brand new script … is fresh and very funny, stuffed full of traditional gags and cheeky one-liners” - The Huddersfield Examiner)and

SLEEPING BEAUTY. Here, James loves the opportunity to write for all ages, so that everyone can enjoy one of our shows, and not just the children, but all adults alike.

Theatre credits include: A CHRISTMAS CAROL (Scrooge);THE WIND IN THE WILLOWS (Toad); THE WIZARD OF OZ (Tin Man); FRANKENSTEIN (Victor); THE HOUND OF THE BASKERVILLES (Sherlock Holmes); DR FAUSTUS (Clown); and EDWARD II (Lancaster).
